“Since the release of the discussion draft of the CETA Act last month, we’ve actively sought feedback from our colleagues, stakeholders, policy experts, and constituents to create a bill that provides the reforms needed to achieve the full benefits of the Inflation Reduction Act in accelerating our transition to a zero-emission energy system,” said Congressman Casten and Congressman Levin. “Today’s SEEC Member Meeting was a critical step in this process, and we heard valuable feedback from our esteemed panelists that we look forward to incorporating into our final bill. We are well on our way to introducing the CETA Act and are confident that it will be the consensus permitting reform package of House Democrats."

Background

Earlier this month, Reps. Casten and Levin released a discussion draft of the CETA Act. The bill aims to be a holistic approach at addressing the bottlenecks that exist in deploying clean energy and electricity transmission at the speed necessary to address the climate crisis, while also ensuring affected communities have their voices heard as part of the permitting process.
