Doris Matsui, Sean Casten, Yassamin Ansari, Kathy Castor, Maxine Dexter, Jared Huffman, and April McClain Delaney — spoke at a press conference blasting President Donald Trump for the federal government’s absence at the key international climate negotiations in Belem, Brazil (COP30) this week. These members were part of a federal delegation set to go to Belem but were waylaid by President Trump’s government shutdown. Even as Trump fails to show leadership at home and abroad, SEEC and millions of Americans remain clear-eyed and committed in the midst of the global fight to build a more affordable, clean, and healthy future for America and the world.

Don Beyer, Suzanne Bonamici, Sean Casten, Mike Levin, and Chellie Pingree, informed Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin of their opposition to the proposal to terminate EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program. The members, led by Vice Chair Rep. Sean Casten, stated that the EPA must follow Congress’ clear direction to maintain the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program.

Washington, D.C. – House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) Clean Energy Deployment Task Force Co-Chairs, Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49) and Rep. Sean Casten (IL-06), led 163 House Democrats in a letter to Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Chris Wright condemning the termination of $8 billion of projects that were set to lower electricity costs for Americans and increase grid reliability. The lawmakers further demanded that DOE immediately reinstate the projects.

Washington, D.C. – This week, members of the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC), including Co-Chairs Reps. Paul Tonko (NY-20) and Doris Matsui (CA-07) and Vice Chairs Reps. Sean Casten (IL-06), Chellie Pingree (ME-01), as well as Members Reps. Nikki Budzinski (IL-13), Kathy Castor (FL-14), Maxine Dexter (OR-03), Dave Min (CA-47), and Melanie Stansbury (NM-01), participated in numerous New York Climate Week 2025 events to demonstrate continued leadership on climate action at the federal level. SEEC members discussed an array of topics at Climate Week from highlighting the fight to create good-paying climate jobs, as well as building resilient and affordable housing in America, to unveiling federal legislation that will ensure Americans have access to cheap, reliable, and clean energy.

Chellie Pingree (ME-01) and Kim Schrier (WA-08), along with Task Force Members Reps. Julia Brownley (CA-26), Jennifer McClellan (VA-04), Jim McGovern (MA-02), and Jimmy Panetta (CA-19), sent a letter to the House Agriculture Committee urging them to continue to support America’s farmers in their climate-resilient conservation efforts through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) critical climate-smart agriculture programs in the upcoming Farm Bill negotiations.
