SEEC Clean Energy Deployment Task Force Endorses Bills to Deliver Affordable, Clean Energy for America
Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) Clean Energy Deployment Task Force, led by Co-Chairs Rep. Sean Casten (IL-06) and Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49), announced the endorsement of five bills that will deliver abundant, affordable, and clean energy to American families across the country.
“Our nation already has the tools in hand to power our homes, communities, and businesses with abundant, reliable, American-made clean energy. The missing link is simply consumer-first energy policies that will expand access to affordable energy across our nation,” said the Task Force Co-Chairs Reps. Sean Casten and Mike Levin. “Over the past year, the Trump Administration has clearly demonstrated what happens to domestic energy prices when we gut our clean energy incentives and prioritize volatile, dirty energy sources. That is why the bills our Task Force endorsed today are deeply rooted in the American values of choice and competition. These are federal policy priorities that can help unlock the power of abundant, reliable, homegrown clean energy – whether it be a comprehensive vision for American energy policy, expanding access to solar, improving our grid technologies, or ensuring every community in America has access to clean energy. This is what we need to see real, near-term relief for our rising energy bills, while safeguarding long-term reliability and global energy competitiveness for generations to come.”
Today, the Task Force endorsed five bills:
- H.R. 7977 - Energy Bills Relief Act, Rep. Sean Casten (IL-06) and Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49)
- H.R. 6981 - SHINE Act, Rep. Susie Lee (NV-03)
- H.R. 4339 - Renewable Energy for U.S. Territories Act, Rep. Ted Lieu (CA-36)
- H.R. 2703 - Advancing GETs Act, Rep. Kathy Castor (FL-14)
- H.R. 4162 - Community Solar Consumer Choice Act, Rep. Kathy Castor (FL-14)
Background
This Congress, SEEC’s Clean Energy Deployment Task Force will focus on studying and addressing impediments to the full deployment of cleaner, cheaper energy technology, especially in a time of increasing energy demand; protecting and building on the progress we have made thus far; and exploring potential grid modernization and clean energy reform policies. The goal will be to ensure cleaner, cheaper energy continues to be a key part of US energy independence.
