SEEC Climate and Agriculture Task Force Endorses Bills to Support Resilient American Food Supply Chain

February 3, 2026

Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) Climate and Agriculture Task Force, led by Co-Chairs Reps. Chellie Pingree (ME-01) and Kim Schrier (WA-08), announced the endorsement of eight bills that will help deliver a resilient American food supply chain and ensure the future success of America’s farmers and ranchers who are playing a central role in the fight against the climate crisis.

“America’s food producers are well aware of the devastating impacts climate and weather-associated risks have on their business and the American food supply chain. In a single year, extreme weather cost our agricultural sector over $20 billion. As SEEC’s Climate and Agriculture Task Force, it’s our mission to do everything we can to support and invest in our producers and our rural communities who need it now more than ever,” said the Task Force Co-Chairs Reps. Chellie Pingree and Kim Schrier. “The bills this Task Force endorsed are policies that represent a holistic view to building a climate-resilient food supply chain—ranging from investing in climate-smart agriculture and reducing food waste, to highlighting the value of wildlife and biodiversity within our agricultural conservation programs. This is about giving our farmers a diverse and innovative set of tools to protect their livelihoods and American food production.”

Today, the Task Force endorsed eight bills:

  1. H.R. 3077 - Agriculture Resilience Act, Rep. Chellie Pingree (ME-01)
  2. H.R. 5365 - ENABLE Conservation Act of 2025, Rep. Kim Schrier (WA-08)
  3. H.R. 5902 - Innovative Practices for Soil Health Act of 2025, Rep. Don Beyer (VA-08)
  4. H.R. 641 - Coordination for Soil Carbon Research and Monitoring Act, Rep. Jennifer McClellan (VA-04)
  5. H.R. 4865 - Advancing Research on Agricultural Soil Health Act of 2025, Rep. Eric Sorensen (IL-17)
  6. H.R. 4987 - Food Date Labeling Act of 2025, Rep. Chellie Pingree (ME-01)
  7. H.R. 2883 - NO TIME TO Waste Act, Rep. Chellie Pingree (ME-01)
  8. H.R. 3329 - Wildlife Corridors and USDA Conservation Programs Act of 2025, Rep. Don Beyer (VA-08)

Background

In the 119th Congress, this Task Force will continue to highlight the value of climate-smart agriculture and push back against harmful actions taken by the Trump Administration and Republicans in Congress that exacerbate the climate crisis for farmers and rural communities. The Task Force will keep working to find new opportunities for climate progress in the Farm Bill, especially where bipartisan support exists.
