SEEC Participates in Climate Change Tour of Denali National Park

July 10, 2023

Washington, D.C. – Last week, the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) embarked on a three-day climate impact tour of Denali National Park, Alaska led by Co-Chair Rep. Mike Quigley (IL). SEEC members had the opportunity to meet with experts and discuss the threat of climate change and environmental pollution with the Denali National Park Service. Witnessing firsthand the devastating impacts of climate change helps inform SEEC in its ongoing mission to champion environmental protection for our nation’s 400 national parks so they can continue to benefit future generations.

“Each time I have visited our National Parks, I am struck by their beauty and their incredible vulnerability. There is no better place to witness the impacts of climate change than in our National Parks – land that has been protected and preserved, yet is immensely susceptible to the changing climate. This year’s visit to Denali was no different,” said Congressman Quigley.

“Our tour of Denali was a unique chance to hear from experts and see firsthand how the Park’s ecosystem is evolving as temperatures rise. From melting permafrost to tree line shifts, as climate change worsens the impacts become more visible. I am hopeful that my colleagues and I can return to Washington, DC with a fresh perspective and greater sense of urgency for the work we must do to protect our national parks and our planet for generations to come.”
