SEEC Slams House Republicans’ Bankrolling Billionaires Budget Resolution
Washington, D.C. – The leaders of the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC), including Co-Chairs Reps. Doris Matsui, Mike Quigley, and Paul Tonko and Vice Chairs Reps. Don Beyer, Suzanne Bonamici, Sean Casten, Mike Levin, and Chellie Pingree, released the following statement in response to the House passage of the Republican-led budget resolution for Fiscal Years 2026 - 2034 (H.Con.Res. 14) that raises costs for millions of Americans in order to finance tax breaks for billionaires.
“House Republicans continue to conjure up new and unbelievable ways to bow down to Donald Trump so he can bankroll billionaires and polluters at the expense of hardworking everyday Americans. This extreme Republican budget resolution surrenders $4.5 trillion from the federal bank account in a massive giveaway to the richest Americans. And we already know who will pay the tab – the hardworking American taxpayer. Simultaneously, House Republicans dared to lay out a blueprint to cut billions of dollars in federal assistance aimed at helping American families lower their electricity costs, put healthy food on the table, and ensure that our children can drink clean water and breathe clean air.
“This is just the tip of the spear of just how far Republicans are willing to go to put billionaires first and working families last. Passing this budget resolution sets us on the path to increased costs for our families, abandoned manufacturing investments and jobs, and a world that is less safe for our children and future generations. We will not stand by as Republicans rip off the hardworking American taxpayer as Trump lavishes his billionaire donors with trillions in tax breaks.”
