Release: SEEC Blasts Bill That Puts America's Protected Lands Up for Sale

June 19, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C – Today, the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 2578, the Republican “lands” bill, by a vote of 232-188:

“From waiving environmental laws to create a military style border 100 miles from the northern and southern borders of the United States, to a special earmark for a private corporation in Alaska, to allowing for the intentional killing of sea lions, this bill is the wrong solution to the wrong problem. We oppose this bill because it is time House Republicans stop these flagrant attacks on our nation’s natural resources and start focusing on policies that truly protect our national treasures and actually create jobs.”
