SEEC Joins Fellow Climate Advocates in Washington DC to Let the World Know We are #Stillin for Global Climate Action

November 14, 2017

Washington D.C. – Today, while international negotiations around climate change continued in Bonn, Germany, SEEC Co-Chairs Reps. Doris Matsui, Gerry Connolly, and Paul Tonko and Vice-Chairs Reps. Matt Cartwright, Alan Lowenthal, Mike Quigley, Chellie Pingree and Jared Polis released the following statement after SEEC Members gathered with colleagues in the Senate and fellow climate advocates at the Center for American Progress, Hip Hop Caucus, Green Latinos, Moms Clean Air Force, VoteVets, and the League of Conservation Voters to let the world know we are still committed to the Paris Climate Deal.

“The dangers of climate change have hit home this year on multiple fronts, while President Trump’s own Administration released a report confirming human activity is the dominant driver of this change and contradicting past public statements by the President and his top advisors.

“We know the facts, and we are taking action with states, cities, universities and business across the country to deliver this resounding message here and around the world: we are still in. As members of SEEC, we will continue to fight for funding and policies in Congress that protect our communities from the dangers of climate change. Together, we are letting the world know that American leaders, organizations and everyday individuals are still committed to building a cleaner economy and a safer planet for all.

“We urge President Trump to drop his climate change denial and work with us as we turn this challenge into an opportunity to create American jobs and industries, spur innovation and ensure America will be a global leader in the next century.”
