SEEC Welcomes New Executive Director

May 7, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) announced that Kara Allen will take over as the new Executive Director.

Prior to joining SEEC, Ms. Allen worked in Vanderbilt University’s Office of Federal Relations, where she focused on general science and higher education policy. Before that, she worked for Rep. Jim Cooper (TN-05), handling energy and environmental issues. She graduated from Vanderbilt with a Bachelor’s in Political Science and U.S. History. While in college, Ms. Allen gained valuable experience, working for former Vice President Gore and the Climate Project, as well as interning for former Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. (TN-09). She will receive her Master’s in Environmental Science and Policy from Johns Hopkins University later this Spring.

Ms. Allen will play a crucial role, driving the work of the coalition as it strives to advance clean energy policies and protect the environment—a struggle in the current congress, which has voted on nearly 200 anti-environmental initiatives to date.
