Statement on U.S. Pledge to Green Climate Fund
Washington, D.C.—Today, members of the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) released the following statement on the U.S. pledge to contribute $3 billion to the Green Climate Fund.
The coalition members said, “The U.S. pledge to the Green Climate Fund will help developing economies grow more sustainably by promoting investments in clean energy and environmental protection. The U.S. pledge will also serve to leverage contributions from other countries ahead of a Green Climate Fund pledging conference next week in Berlin, Germany. We strongly support the President’s work–at home and abroad–to take the lead in addressing global climate change. Congress must be a partner and cannot afford to forego this important investment.”
The Green Climate Fund was established by the United Nations in 2010 and is designed to support projects, programs, policies and other activities to address climate change in developing countries.
