Hill briefing on warming highlights military, health impacts

Science and national security experts visited Capitol Hill last night to brief an audience of congressional staffers on the toll climate change is already taking on public well-being, at home and around the world.
Washington, D.C.—Today, the House passed H.R. 3080, the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA). The conference bill authorizes 34 water infrastructure projects and eight project modifications that provide for navigation of our waterways, flood protection, and environmental restoration.
Washington, D.C. – Tomorrow evening, the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) and Senate Climate Action Task Force will host a panel discussion on the threat climate change poses to our health, security, and economy. To further inform the conversation, attendees will watch an episode from Showtime’s climate change documentary series “Years of Living Dangerously” examining the health and security implications associated with climate change. A Q&A session with the panel will take place after the screening.
Washington, D.C.—Today, the United States Global Change Research Program released our third National Climate Assessment (NCA). Required by Congress through the United States Global Change Research Act of 1990, the NCA is the product of four years of work by hundreds of our nation's top scientists. It provides the latest insights into the historical, current, and future state of climate in the United States.
