SEEC leaders said that this “Dirty Air Act” would gut important pollution controls and roll back American clean energy progress in favor of bigger profits for Big Polluters.

Since its founding at the start of the 111th Congress, SEEC - a caucus of 47 House Democrats - has sought to advance policies that will grow promising domestic clean energy industries, arguing the economic, national security, and environmental benefits of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

WASHINGTON, DC - This week the members of the Sustainable Energy & Environment Coalition (SEEC) announced their leadership officers for the 112th United States Congress. SEEC - a caucus of 46 House Democrats dedicated to advancing policies for clean energy, environmental protection, and addressing climate change - again elected Reps. Jay Inslee (D-WA) and Steve Israel (D-NY) to serve as Co-Chairs for the new Congress. SEEC also elected five vice chairs: Reps.
Caucus Chairman John Smith emerged from the important hearing pleased with its proceedings. He is hopeful that committee members will eventually agree on passing legislation on this important issue.

WASHINGTON, DC -- Today the Congressional Sustainable Energy & Environment Coalition (SEEC) announced its endorsement of legislation in response to the BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill- the largest environmental disaster in American history. SEEC announced its support for legislative proposals to put Americans to work cleaning and restoring the Gulf; increase the liability cap for economic damage claims resulting from oil spills; assess royalty payments on spilled oil; and strengthen environmental and technological rig safety, spill prevention and response standards.
