Washington, D.C.– Today, the United States submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) a goal to reduce our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 26-28 percent below 2005 emission levels by 2025. The goal submitted is consistent with GHG reductions included in last year’s U.S.-China joint announcement on climate change.
SEEC Members released the following statement:
President Obama has signed an Executive Order that aims to cut the Federal Government’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 40 percent over the next decade from 2008 levels -- saving taxpayers up to $18 billion in avoided energy costs. Several major Federal contracting partners are also announcing their plans to disclose and reduce GHG emissions throughout the Federal supply chain.
