Don Beyer, Suzanne Bonamici, Sean Casten, Mike Levin, and Chellie Pingree, released the following statement in response to the House passage of the Republican-led budget resolution (H.Con.Res. 14) that doubles down on raising costs for American families in order to finance giveaways for billionaires.

Washington, D.C. – Today, environmental champions in the House and Senate—including House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) Vice Chairs Reps. Sean Casten, Mike Levin, and Chellie Pingree; SEEC Co-Chair Rep. Paul Tonko, who also serves as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Environment in the House Energy and Commerce Committee; Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW); Senator Edward J. Markey, senior member of EPW; and Senators Richard Blumenthal and Brian Schatz—held a press conference at the Capitol to oppose Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin’s attacks on clean air, clean water, and a healthy future for the American people.

Frank Pallone, Jr., Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, led a bicameral letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin calling out his wholesale assault on the central mission of the agency he was appointed to lead. They were joined by Democratic Senate Leader Chuck Schumer and Democratic House Leader Hakeem Jeffries, bringing the total to 180 Members of Congress calling on Administrator Zeldin to halt his egregious attacks.

Debbie Dingell – an original author of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund – sent a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin to demand that the EPA direct Citibank to immediately release the legally obligated money from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. They led a total of 82 Members of Congress in signing the letter.
